The LCU 1700 is a new class of Landing Craft Unit built by Austal USA following the requirements of the US Navy and US Marine Corps. These vessels are used to deliver personnel, fighting vehicles and equipment to enemy shores. The US Navy awarded a $91 million contract to Austal in September 2023 for the construction of three LCU 1710 crafts to be delivered by 2026.
